Paidy was founded with the mission to create a world of “We remove the barriers, embrace simplicity”, offering its real-time monthly consolidated credit service all across Japan. Paidy started Japan’s first instant post-pay credit service for ecommerce consumers in October 2014. Paidy requires no pre-registration or credit card to use; Paidy consumers purchase products online using only a mobile phone number and email address (verification is established though a four-digit code via SMS or voice pin-code) and settle a single monthly bill for all their purchases, either at a convenience store, by bank transfer or auto debit. Paidy also supports multi-pay installments and subscriptions. There are currently almost 4,000,000 Paidy accounts in use (Oct 2020)!! Paidy has proved a powerful means of persuading first time buyers to transact online. Its proprietary models and machine learning mean that transactions are underwritten in seconds, with guaranteed payment to merchants. Paidy increases merchant revenues by reducing incomplete transactions, increasing conversion rates, boosting average order values, and facilitating easy repeat buying.

thatDot is a growing company that specializes in solving high-throughput data streaming problems (entity resolution, streaming joins, ingest pipelines, incremental computation, pattern matching, etc.) using graphs. Some of the typical challenges we deal with include: Designing and maintaining protocols in distributed systems Implementing new features in our querying engines and actor-based graph interpreter Creating high-throughput back-pressured streaming pipelines Ensuring horizontal and vertical scalability Quine, our core technology, is a streaming graph that combines key operational features of event stream processing systems like Flink with the graph data structure of databases like Neo4J or Tigergraph. Quine makes it easy to find complex patterns and anomalies in massive data streams and trigger action immediately. Built on native streaming graph technology as the result of 7+ years of DARPA-funded R&D, this hot new technology makes it easy for infinite datasets to be efficiently analyzed in real-time. Ideal use cases for Quine include financial and identity fraud detection, XDR/EDR solutions, network observability/root cause analysis, and e-commerce.

CollegeVine🍃 was started by three friends in a dorm room in 2013. Our founders had just gone through the college application process and wanted to level the playing field of undergraduate admissions. Now we employ over 850 consultants and are looking to hire more. Our curriculum works, with 73% of clients gaining admission to one of their top three school choices. The Positions posted here would be for their R&D department, working for their software engineering team! Useful context CollegVine are a bunch of polyglot veteran FPers who mostly work in Haskell and PureScript. Our infrastructure and non-mission-critical tooling tends to be in whatever works best for the task at hand: sometimes that's Haskell with 34 GHC extensions; other times it's minimalist Ruby or bash—basically, it's a team decision based on whatever sits at the intersection of appropriateness, developer joy, quality, and velocity. Old-school ed-tech user experiences are not acceptable to us. Our software must impress and work for a wide audience since we serve students and their families. On any given day, your code will be run by high schoolers, college students, young professionals, guidance counselors, parents, and grandparents from all walks of life. Consider applying anyway even if you don't have professional FP experience. We will seriously consider anyone who passes our technical bar, regardless of how they got there. Please submit a cover letter. Expect autonomy in exchange for transparency and results. Since you are well-read, curious, and self-aware, we will treat you like the awesome, interesting adult that you are. We have core hours and a goal-based environment; we understand mindfulness and the value of deep focus. We're chasing a big idea and we need every good teammate we can find.

Dr. B is the standby list for COVID vaccines. We connect patients with local providers who have extra doses using a standby system. Sometimes, patients have to cancel their vaccination appointments, leaving unused doses at the end of the day. Over two million patients have signed up to receive text message notifications when doses become available near them. We're building out the standby list first to get the US vaccinated, then to scale globally

Tweag is a software innovation lab that helps deep tech startups quickly scale their engineering performance and execute on high-risk, high-reward projects with confidence. We find the best wherever they live, to build better software by applying mathematics, computer science and the methods of open source. Our core engineering mantras: functional, typed, immutable. These are the key technologies for composable software. We build parts as functions, because functions compose where objects do not. We use types to describe functions, because one type is worth a thousand out-of-date comments. We keep data immutable, because immutability lets us focus on the business logic holistically without getting bogged down by hundreds of corner cases. Tweag is a major proponent and contributor to new ways of building composable software. We are active contributors to GHC, have full-time researchers on staff to fund new language features (like linear types and dependent types), instigated the creation of the Haskell Foundation, and created many new libraries and tools in Haskell. We are the top contributors to Nix and were the first to be labeled Bazel Community Expert, because we’re passionate about the impact of great developer tools.

Our story flox was born of our team's experience in deploying Nix tooling in enterprise and our difficulties with the state of developer tooling today. We built flox to deliver the developer experience and battle-tested architecture your systems deserve. flox first began as a project to deploy Nix at scale at The D. E. Shaw Group and quickly grew to be one of the largest deployments of Nix ever seen in an enterprise setting. Our team includes a mix of new and long-established leaders in the Nix community and we dedicate significant time and resources to contribute back to the Nix ecosystem in important ways. flox is backed by amazing investors focused on open-source such as NEA, Hetz Ventures, Addition Ventures, and angels such as Thomas Dohmke (GitHub CEO), Guy Podjarny (Snyk founder), and James Turnbull (former VP Docker, CTO Sotheby's). Our Commitment to Nix and Open Source The future is Nix-native and we are not just betting on it: Nix is in our DNA. As an explicit part of our culture, we will continue to support Nix, the many amazing tools that are and will be built on it and the community through direct contributions to the NixOS Foundation, open source, sponsorships, evangelizing and organizing events. One of our key goals is growing Nix itself: flox will always provide seamless compatibility in and out of Nix. Our efforts center on onboarding more developers onto Nix via flox, providing a happy path for them to grow into the wider Nix ecosystem. Finally, we want to thank everyone who has contributed to making the Nix vision a reality. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants, and feel grateful to be able to contribute to this amazing project. Onwards!
