About the Role

You'll be at the center of scaling Backpack and blockchain for mass adoption. As a Mobile Engineer, you'll own critical features from conception to deployment, working on both Android and iOS platforms to deliver a seamless, high-performance mobile wallet experience.

This role is perfect for engineers who are passionate about crypto, thrive on ownership, and want to build products that will onboard the next billion users to web3.

What You'll Do

Build Core Features

•      Roll out key features for the Backpack Mobile App for Android and iOS, directly impacting user experience and adoption

Optimize & Debug

•      Optimize app performance, identify bottlenecks, and fix bugs to ensure a smooth, reliable user experience

End-to-End Ownership

•      Own projects end-to-end—from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, and monitoring

Cross-Platform Excellence

•      Ensure feature parity and optimal performance across both Android and iOS platforms

Collaborate & Innovate

•      Work closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver innovative mobile experiences for crypto users

Drive Best Practices

•      Contribute to code quality, establish best practices, and help shape the mobile engineering culture at Backpack

What We're Looking For

Passion for Web3 & Crypto

•      Genuinely excited about Backpack, web3, and cryptocurrency—you understand the space and want to help drive adoption

React Native Expertise

•      3+ years of professional experience focusing on React Native and mobile app development

Mobile Development Mastery

•      Deep knowledge of React Native, JavaScript/TypeScript, and mobile app architecture

•      Experience building and shipping production mobile apps to App Store and Google Play

•      Understanding of mobile performance optimization, memory management, and debugging techniques

Ownership Mindset

•      Strong sense of ownership—you take responsibility for your work from start to finish and care deeply about quality

Communication Skills

•      Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with global teams

Nice to Have

•      Experience with blockchain integrations, wallet applications, or crypto protocols

•      Familiarity with native iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin) development

•      Knowledge of web3 libraries and blockchain SDKs

•      Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and mobile DevOps

•      Background in security-focused mobile development
